If you ever wonder why there are so many avid TV watchers
it's because the shows themselves are numbing.
Not numbing so much to the mind, for the mind is usually numb
(or at least, numb enough) but numbing to the heart.
If you don't believe me turn off the TV in the middle of an episode
and you'll find the silence pulls away something.
Even white noise acts decoy for a while but once the static
disappears, well, tearducts aren't too guileful to start.
