Observatories

it's a place you know well,
ladders lead you there -

ladders rung by bodies celestial
essentially scalable only by
nightfall.

when you climb (you will)
you'll find yourself -

a body outlined dismally by
billion year-old signals seen
post-mortem.

gas clouds and supernovae
call out to you there -

(color-less 'til colored in
as color won't stay color when
too far away)

and they speak of solidarity
as the air around you stands still

and they speak of beauty
as you catch your self sighing
